Masks should still be worn by people with symptoms of COVID-19, a positive COVID-19 test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19. People who are immunocompromised may want to talk with their healthcare provider about their level of risk, which metric is best for them to follow, and what steps they should take to protect themselves. Hospitals, nursing homes, and healthcare settings are instructed to follow CDC's COVID-19 Transmission Level. CDC recommends that people who are at high risk of complications from COVID talk to their healthcare provider about wearing a mask or taking other precautions.
